Penang Must Try Hawker Food


In the first month of 2017, I am luckily to have a chance to go travel with my whole family. Although the reason why I have to go Penang isn't make me happy. It is because of my parents have to check their health. I came 2 days earlier than the doctor schedule, so I can visit some of must visit hawker food in Penang and here's my list Penang Must Try Hawker Food:

1. Penang Famous Chendul



This is my top list must try Hawker Food in Penang. The combination of chendul, red bean, shave ice, gula malaka. It combine to be super nice. Eventhough I like this combination but for my personal preference, I prefer cendol texture in Indonesia. But ice chendul will be nice especially in the sunny days and you need something to refreshing your throat

2. Rojak




Near the chendul, there is many food stall which serve many yummy food. Rojak is one of the must wanted food. Indonesia also has Rujak as well, but the different between Rujak and Rojak are the ingredients and the sauce. Rojak consist of some fruit, tofu and cuttlefish. The sauce the use "petis" as we known as one of West Java spice and gula malaka. 


3. Char Kuey Teow



Char Kuey Teow we knew as Fried Kwtiauw in Indonesia. The main ingredients are same but the are some of ingredients that makes Char Kuey Teow is must try food in Penang. Usually they use

4. Dim Sum


I never thought that Dim Sum in Penang is cheap and super finger licking. Every morning in Penang, I had Dim Sum as my breakfast. There are many dim sum place I visited such as Tai Tong Restaurant, Zim Sum, and Yong Ping. Tai Tong wins my heart, it will be my favorite dim sum in Penang. They have several varian such as chee cheong fan, porridge, pao, steam dim sum, and fried dim sum. My favorite is Salted Egg Bao which is only RM 2. That is so cheap and the bao is BOMB. If you like salted egg bao, you must visit Tai Tong.

5. Curry Mee


Curry Mee will be one of the famous food in Penang. The combination of the thick spice and white savoury soup will make you like curry mee. The white soup consist of coconut milk that makes the flavour of thick spice will be all out. I tried curry mee near the Penang Road Famous Chendul

6. Laksa


If you like something fresh and spicy, you'll like Laksa. The soup is very rich from the combination of chili, shrimp, and many spice. Usually the use white noodle and it texture very nice. Even I am not a big fan of Laksa but taste better that Malaysian food in Jakarta. There are so many Laksa in Penang, but you can try Laksa in Kafe Ping Hooi and Penang Road Famous Chendul 

7. Fried Oyster


Fried Oyster looks very simple dish. It is the combination egg and oyster. But if you cannot cook well, it won't impress you. I tried fried oyster in Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, you will find crowded stall who cook nice Fried Oyster. You should try it
